  • Huff designed the current offense.  If he brought anyone in the question would be whether he would allow them to change the offense.  No experienced offensive coordinator would come to MU if they were told they had to run Huff's offense as designed.

I don't like to lose, and that isn't so much because it is just a football game, but because defeat means the failure to reach your objective. I don't want a football player who doesn't take defeat to heart, who laughs it off with the thought, 'Oh, well, there's another Saturday.' The trouble in American life today, in business as well as in sports, is that too many people are afraid of competition. The result is that in some circles people have come to sneer at success if it costs hard work and training and sacrifice.- Knute Rockne

  • 1st half today was smooth but Ark State brought the wrong D in the 1st half.

They had the wrong D in the second half, too, but we quit playing the way we were, as usual.  Two ways to win a game you are winning.  You either keep doing what's working and putting points up or you run clock and hope for the best.  We chose poorly.  We won, but made the last hour and a half miserable for fans who paid good money to watch us play.  Not the right tack for a sparse crowd in the cold.  Give em a show and make sure they come back next year to see it again.  Had enough years of Doc ball.  No one wants that here.

I just know Brewer was here from 96-99. I realize it may be looked at as a step down. But living around DC can get old and expensive.

  • I noticed Abe Fenwick, qb at GW in Charleston, decommited from WM. Wonder if that is a consequence?

Butch Jones was very close to being the coach here when Doc was hired. It came down to him and Doc. I was not impressed with what I saw from him last night. In the 1st half 4th & 1 from your own 34 is asinine. Then in the 4th you've got 3 TO's an and let MU run another 40 seconds or so off of the clock before punting was crazy. Thats just 2 things that stick out to me.

  • Anyone think W&M's success stemmed from JMU not being in the CAA anymore and not from this guy?

Go rotate.  But seriously with the way things have developed wouldn?t surprise me if Danny is announced as senior recruiter.

  • Tony Peterson from Illinois State.  His offense is averaging 32 points a game and he can bring us some QB prospects.  He is familiar with what it takes to win and can replace Huff as the next potential head football coach sooner rather than later

Guess I had it wrong, I recall he rejected our attention in favor of Cincinnati.

OK, thought you were indicating we chose Doc over him; my bad.

  • I had not kept up with Tony Peterson.  I would be excited with him as HC.  Suspect he would have to get some committment from higher up at Marshall that a move to OC would place him in top position for HC.

  • Butch Jones rode success of Brian Kelly at Central Michigan and Cincinnati. He never wanted to come here...he was using it as leverage for other jobs. Tony Peterson no thanks. His success with only all conf caliber QB's. Lots of short stints in his career. Tony Franklin way more innovative than TP. Brewer never a great X/O guy either.

He has coached some incredible talent at WR over the years.. Been a major part of successful passing attacks everywhere he has been. Including here, Ok State, UNC and now Maryland
