 Our fans HATE our QB, we are little sisters of the poor with NIL and our program is the biggest disappointment in the Sunbelt. 

All we need now is a herpes outbreak among the players to solidify a great recruiting class.

I think we could hit a good spot. The optimist here says mass transfer out, mass transfer in. If we lame duck Huff a mass exodus will happen. If we fire him, more may leave. For people who hate us hiring a local HC or a former Marshall alum have to understand those people have a relationship to the area. They will sell it because they love it. An outsider like Huff this is a culture shock. He noted coming in we expect winning and will let him know it. But I think all of this was too much.

It's a unique job that has some unique challenges. If you're not hiring someone with ties, they need to be from like Dakotas, small rural towns with proven history. If we hire right, utilize the portal in a way that makes sense we can turn it around quick. Just an optimist look.

maybe this is only wishful thinking-
since the portal, i think over 3 years would be too long for most fans anywhere.  especially (1) if HC gets the initial staff hiring right and (2) emphasis on QB and other key positions and (3) off-season/S&C.
i would like to think most ADs or best ADs would take notes throughout their careers on the best practices/aspects of football programs and make sure those are maintained HC to HC to HC.

This is the quote to the football season.  I couldn't stand hearing commentators using the "Marshall Beater" comment during a broadcast.  If Huff is actually coaching MU next year I hope he come up with a new catchy way to say our team shouldn't make mistakes !

Coaches say stupid stuff all the time. It won't linger like a dark cloud. He was just being foolishly candid. Huff's problem is that he can't coach and he can't identify quarterback talent.

I don't think this assessment will have any negativity at all, we all are disappointed, but there are actual reasons for the results; maybe not good reasons, but reasons none the less. Those are explainable to young recruits.

What won't be explainable is the lack of NIL money. Remember, before Huff stuck his head up his axx about Cam, he started the terrible statement with the fact we are lacking on NIL monies.

It says we still got a bowl but fell short of expectations.  Hardly a scathing review of our program.  Probably better than we deserved.  When they stop believing we are capable of more...that's when we have to worry.  That's when we become ULM.  I mean look where Southern Miss is.  Anyone think they aren't a bigger disappointment than us?  To the media?  To their fans?  One of two teams that didn't even get bowl eligible.  Last year they were one of the only SBC teams to win a bowl.  I don't like where we're at, but I'll take a P5 win and a bowl over ULM or USM's plight.  6-6 vs our schedule and against the best G5 league, by the numbers, is better than 3-9 vs the worst G5 league by the numbers in 2016.  If serious changes aren't made we likely will be a bottom dweller next year.

3-9 in 2016 was the lowest ever. Even lower than 2007 because the strength of schedule in 07 was much tougher.

A close second would be those of us who were big on coach Huff when he was hired.
