  • Unfortunately, I'd say we'll see a press release at either the end of this week or the beginning of next week saying Dan will be head coach next year and has full support of the administration to "turn it around" and put an "exciting" team on the court. Yeah...I almost puked while typing that. Despite the obvious need to cut Dan and move on, I can't see the buyout being paid nor anyone at that level wanting to upset the Dantoni family.

  • I don't think we'll see/ hear anything at all. The powers that be will lie low and let this blow over. They'll focus our attention on women's b'ball, the spring sports and spring football. Marshall isn't known for its great communication. lol!

agreed.  i think DD told CS last spring that if university will give him a 3-yr deal, he'll coach those 3 & then retire.  & we know what CS said about commitments in his Huff statement after FB season...MU "honors" 'em.

Mushroom approach.  Keep 'em in the dark and covered with BS.

At this point fan support for or against DD seems galvanized one way or the other.  Seems the DD supporters want to keep him whether it's the best thing for the program or not and the people that don't support DD want him fired yesterday.

I suspect you are right and the athletic department will take the approach of not poking the fire by issuing a statement either way.  If the AD does issue a statement it will be one of those that the AD and DD have met and the expectations of the men's basketball program were discussed, agreed to by both, and everyone wants what is best for the program and the university.

This whole thing makes me a supporter of incentive based pay for coaches.  Base coaches salaries on performance.  If they win big they get paid big, win small and they get paid small.

  • As fans of course we all want to win every game, but I think many of us would be okay with a team that was just competitive and played hard and did not have glaring issues that don't get fixed over 30 games.

  • I think the athletic department is going to let the women bask in the attention they are getting right now. Next week is when I think we will hear about the men's team. I think the only way we hear something before that is Dan announcing his retirement. I don't think that is going to happen.

  • We know we are going to be bad.  I love the Pruett family and what Coach did for Marshall but the fact Dan is giving Pruett a D1 scholarship when no other school in the nation even offered tells you this is just a club sport and no one at Marshall is taking Mens basketball seriously.

No, but I like the thought.  Minimum wage seems fair for a zero win season.

Of course I was joking with my previous comment, but can you imagine how hard it would be to find new coaches if consistent losing resulted in a very small salary as well as short tenure.

Gee, sounds like you expect Coach D to actually perform all of the job functions and duties that he is BEING PAID TO DO!!!  Haven't you been listening closely to Coach?  He is clearly in it for the "FUN"!!

  • If Dan is giving out scholarships to a walkon, it is obvious that Dan is coming back. As I said before, I don't care about MUM basketball if the leadership at MU doesn't care. Please don't give me the line that I am a bad fan. I have  been supporting Marshall financially since the early 1970's and my parents supported MU before I started writing checks.

    It is what it is.

  • How can Dan justify to give scholarships to Nutter and Pruett?  Help me understand as no other D1 school offered either.

Bringing DD back after an absolute garbage season in YEAR 10 😂😂😂, is outrageous

There is no buyout, so this move is inexcusable

Cancel your season tickets and booster $ for Bball, and redirect $$$ to another sport you love until the administration gets the message

    Go Herd!

    Interesting

For Herdfans and Herdnation, 94% of the members of the different boards think there should be change for men's basketball.

I don't think it would change much.  I think if the market rate for a D-I HC was $400k rather that $800k to tens of millions that 99% of the current D-I HC would still be coaching.  Not many HC could make that kind of money doing anything else.
