  • Two more names to add to the coaching list: Todd Hartley and Tim Cramsey.

  • Good list. I would add Hartley on there. Although, I am sure no thorough search will be done. It will be a Spears buddy. ugh!

An ODU chap on the Belt board said that Braxton is an absolute beast.  We were so worried with their QB that we didn't stop to think what they must have thought about ours and he just just kept coming at them.

Good list, but if they're going to have the Montana State head coach, why not also include the South Dakota State head coach?

    He'd be my first choice.

Yes they did.  No one ever accused Fancher of being great/good qb.  He was at best adequate first half of last year and we started well, last half he was injured not so good.  But, what our genius herd fans forget is he was the best we had. Our fans were too busy creaming for cole.

That's a good Segway to huff...first year qb wells...talented but not good overall.  Second year Columbi...good enough but hurt...third year Fancher adequate at best but no back up after hurt...this year Earle and Braxton...both likely better than anyone he's had.

Point being Huff has done fairly well without much luck in QBs but this is the new NIL environment.

Lastly, all those saying started wrong QB...probably cause we were trying to try the new OC (popular with fans) offense...turned out better to have Braxton and a hybrid Doege offense

    Think on it boys.

  • I think the QB situation was the wrong focus.  The primary offensive problem beginning the year prior and continuing through last year was the offensive line play.  Fancher was mobile and it was slightly less noticeable, but the O-line was porous and any QB would not have had time to make a throw.  The OLine played great in the ND game, but after that Coach left we were really bad on the line play until this year.

I don't like to lose, and that isn't so much because it is just a football game, but because defeat means the failure to reach your objective. I don't want a football player who doesn't take defeat to heart, who laughs it off with the thought, 'Oh, well, there's another Saturday.' The trouble in American life today, in business as well as in sports, is that too many people are afraid of competition. The result is that in some circles people have come to sneer at success if it costs hard work and training and sacrifice.- Knute Rockne

  • I would not be upset with any of the following (in random order with the exception of Clark)

    Bill Clark
    Seth Doege
    Brennan Marion
    Rich Rod
    Neal Brown

There are others that would be good hires. My (large) gut tells me it will be Doege or Rich Rod. No credible inside info, just a hunch.

  • From the article...good read btw ..

    6. Tony Gibson (Defensive Coordinator, NC State)

A native of Van, WV, Gibson is a familiar name to Herd fans. He?s coached at Glenville State, WV Tech, Michigan, Pitt, Arizona, and most notably, WVU, where he served as Defensive Coordinator from 2013 to 2018.

Since 2019, Gibson has been the DC at NC State, where he?s built strong defenses in the ACC. Rumors suggest he has a desire to return to West Virginia, making him an intriguing candidate. A Gibson-led Herd program could feel similar to the early years of Doc Holliday?s tenure, which began at? checks notes? NC State.
