  • The whole ?we play for championships? seems like just a bunch of crap now. We are literally playing for a championship and not renewing our HC. Making the offer. Publicly let everyone know an offer was extended so huffs agent can?t say one wasn?t and let the chips lay as they will. Fans, myself included will be pissed if we hire Gibson over huff. What?s the point in hiring Gibson? To win a Sunbelt championship or is that too low for us now?

Exactly!!! Anything other than SB championship by Gibson would be a total failure. Spears would rather start from scratch than drop his pride.

  • Marshall is known for that. When Pruett bluffed trying to get more commitment from the administration and they told him see ya. Marshall's leaders have always been an arrogant bunch. Spears should be the one to leave.
the problem was BP was bluffing the wrong guy!!  We didnt have a president at that time, just someone keeping time. So BP made his demands ,and the guy said you need to talk to the new guy about all of that!!!  I dont have the authority to make that decision

Spears does not have anything to do with this.

So our AD doesn?t get a major say in who our Head Football Coach is?

  • WTF  do you expect him to say????No he does not want to be here a few days before playing for a championship????.   He is GONE!
Ha! And he dreamed of moving to Hattiesburg to rebuild a So Miss program in the shitter.

Oh well I know we can offer better than or same as So Miss so our administration made this happen more than Huff.

I'm sure listening to motor mouth fans made it easier for them to make this call.  Hey it may work out but seems like a big risk.  Finally get where we want to be and gamble on future.  Oh well hope it works hugely.  Just doesn't seem necessary.

Then Smith is not so smart when it comes to athletics. But I'm sure those 2 are scrambling to get their story ready as we speak. They have screwed this up so bad they are going to need a doozy to get their story ready fans to buy it.

  • So, shockingly, someone's lying. Either he was offered an extension at least twice or he wasn't.

Or it was so insulting that no one would have accepted it.  That's my vote.

  • Not true! I've talked to Jessica several times, and it's not true that she doesn't want to be here. The Huff's have grown to love Marshall and Huntington. Mrs. Huff told me, she doesn't know how those rumors got started about her dislike for Huntington.

Because she resigned to take care of her kids and the school girl gossip club, here, started chittering.

  • Could we at least wait for all the facts before we throw a hissy fit and withhold money from our athletic department?

I can truly empathize with this. I have four daughters age 12 to 6, and my wife is a stay-at-home mom. It's a big commitment.

  • People are gonna believe what they want to believe, regardless of what the Huffs or Marshall says. They can tell you everything is great but we don't know if it's true or they are just covering.
    Actions speak louder than words.

In all likelihood both parties have some blame in this debacle. Marshall never seems to handle these matters well.

Or, while not being insulting, it was just not good enough or the buy-out clauses being too steep.

AD's like to say things, but theres not an agent worth his salt in the US that will allow his client, the HFC report to anyone other than the President of the University.  The way it is at all big time programs.

  • But that's beside the point he is saying Today he wants to continue being the coach of MU.  Ball in Admin court.

I think the problem is that the ball is NOT in Admin's court - they've already handed it off with the next guy just waiting a few more days to run with it.
