Really odd that he would leave Ohio for Charlotte. Thats a step down IMO.

As far as playing them in a bowl, neither team may have enough players to field a team if that?s the match up. I could see future portal guys playing for us if we play somebody like a ranked Army, but not Ohio.

Ohio is already matched up against Jax State in the Cure Bowl. If Rich Rod leaves Jax State for WVU, then that would be the case for that bowl game.

Given the AAC and SBC bowl champs are left, I would be surprised at this point if we aren't matched up against Army.

Most G5 coaches follow the money trail.  Charlotte has money, Athens has worthless checks.

That is my hope at this point, that we are matched in the Independence Bowl against Army.

During the pre game yesterday, Spears was talking about different bowls, but he brought up the Independence bowl about 3 times.

Charlotte is a great place to live with many options of things to do. Athens,not so much. Playing in the American against Army, Navy etc. compared to Eastern, Western, Kent State etc is not even close.Obviously more money for him.

Oh it's great for the coach.  No one is saying it isn't.  But he'll never go anywhere else from that dead end job and Ohio suffered for it.  Athens is better than Charlotte if Athens leads to a P4 job and Charlotte leads to a cemetery.

Guess we will have to see. Some coaches move to take jobs within our conference that are one of the worst teams in the country. There was a time when Marshall was viewed that way. Charlotte as people like to say has potential.
