  • Most of us were ready to move on from Huff before the start of the season. Most of us were still ready to move on from Huff after the Ga So loss.

There is really only one thing that changed the rest of the season. That is Braylon Braxton.

The fact Huff continued trying to play Earle in front of Braxton is proof he isn?t a great coach. Most of us saw Braxton as the better QB after the first game of the season when all QBs played in the FCS warm up game.

Huff continued with Braxton as the backup. Our starter got hurt and that is the only reason Braxton became our starter. Even after that, he tried to force Earle in the Ga So game which continued to mess up the flow of the game, and cost us the game.

I think Huff is a good coach, but he isn?t a great coach. Without Braxton, Huff finishes this season 7-5 or 6-6 and we are not having this conversation.

    He got lucky, not good.

Would it have been nice to keep Huff and most of our team for next season? Of course. Would it have been nice to be locked into a 5-6 year contract with him? I don?t think so. We made that mistake with Doc and look how that turned out.

The right way is always the right way- Coach Huff

Well said. I agree 100% with what you say. That pretty much sums it up.

  • Sour grapes. It's possible to be a Herd fan and also give credit where it is due. Huff coached well this year and brought us a championship. The need to tarnish him is petty.

  • This is how I feel. Jimmys and Joes won this one. Same as Doc in 2014. An excellent group playing for each other. They played with life with #1 at the helm. The dude has what the young kids call aura. Over there talking trash with the fans, giving the Louisiana fans wrist bands and shaking their hands. He understands how to have fun and win.

Braxton created new fans last night even on their side. The kid is a leader we haven't had at QB since Cato. How was it missed up front or after the 1st game unless NIL was at play. BUT still give credit to Huff for getting them there. At the end of the day, Coach Huff brought the kids here and deserves the credit for that. Also deserves some credit for year to year development. Chuck Montgomery, Jalen Slappy, Jaden Yates, Mike Green and so many others have made great strides.

I?m not being petty. I appreciate what Huff did. I think he is a good coach and said so?. But let?s not pretend we just lost Bobby Pruett.

If anything this proves that at our level, esp in the NIL era, a good QB is more important than a good coach.

  • We will see what Huff can do at S Miss. Huff is a master at recruiting the portal. Yes QB was huge. But he brought in Fitzpatrick, Chester, Chapman, Braxton, Houston, Green and many others to a place that isn't loaded with money.
