  • If I was in the Marshall Athletic department, I would approach Chad about guest coaching as the OC for the Bowl game.  With the coaching transition, it would be no risk and would help add a bit of interest and probably excite some players.  Perhaps even invite some other former NFL players to also guest coach.

I don't like to lose, and that isn't so much because it is just a football game, but because defeat means the failure to reach your objective. I don't want a football player who doesn't take defeat to heart, who laughs it off with the thought, 'Oh, well, there's another Saturday.' The trouble in American life today, in business as well as in sports, is that too many people are afraid of competition. The result is that in some circles people have come to sneer at success if it costs hard work and training and sacrifice.- Knute Rockne

  • IMO, most young football players have no idea who Chad Pennington is (unless they have been to MU and seen the various photos, etc.).

I would presume everyone on Marshall's team knows who he is.

Not to mention i gives the talking heads something interesting to mention during the game and do a little segment, which is good for recruiting.

Don't have to see something happen to envision it.

If any player on that team doesn't know him, I'll enter them into the portal myself.

Oh, for gosh sakes.  He's on the Board of Governors. He's a major donor to the University.  He owns one of the boxes at the Joan.  Of course he'll still be "hanging" around Huntington.  This isn't personal -- his kid just wants to play.

I told a friend that's an alum of Dayton that signing Chad's second son was the best thing that the school and football team could have ever done.  Chad will be involved and supportive there - as he will wherever Cole lands - as he can be.  He's a class act.
