  • College athletes should get 6 years to play.  Some may not want 6 so play until undergrad is done.  Many athletes take 5 or 4 1/2 to graduate anyways and since some sports are spring sports give 5 years to play for sure and why not 6

Full undergrad & masters if want

  • It will be interesting to see how the NCAA responds.
Thus far, most of the legal foundations of the NCAA's authority were built in sand, both statutory and constitutionality.

A lot of people on this board still haven't truly internalized that.

In memory of Dr Daniel P Babb who taught so much to so many.

  • This is just further evidence that college athletics really don't exist.  This will be his 7th year and he is doing this because he is going to get paid heavily to be Vandy's QB next year.  That by definition is pro sports.

When you have guys almost 25 still eligible it is pro.

    https://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa-agrees-to-waiver-for-juco-players-after-diego-pavia-lawsuit-injunction-214903548.html

?The NCAA Division I Board of Directors granted a waiver to permit student-athletes who attended and competed at a non-NCAA school for one or more years to remain eligible and compete in 2025-26,? the NCAA memo reads, ?if those student-athletes would have otherwise used their final season of competition during the 2024-25 academic year, and meet all other eligibility requirements (e.g., progress toward degree, five-year period of eligibility).?

The NCAA also plans to file an appeal to the court?s ruling in the Pavia lawsuit, it announced Monday.

So JUCO, NAIA, USports (Canada college sports) all get the waiver for an additional year until the courts final decision.

Dang, it might be possible for someone to play 4 years at a NAIA school and 4 years at a NCAA school in the future haha.

This should impact our basketball team with the Gibbs coming from NAIA, Mingo coming from USports and Speer (he spent 1 year at Santa Fe College).

  • I thought the Gibbs brothers came from D3, probably wrong about that.

They came from Grace College in Indiana which is a good basketball school in the NAIA level.
