  • Got this from ESPN.com website about blackouts. They can black it out in whatever areas they want. We need to contact the school and push for this to happen at least for Kansas St. game. I think it would help tremendously with ticket sales. If it is not on TV people will want to be at this game bigtime!

Thank you for inquiring about blackouts . Please understand that ESPN, Inc. would prefer not to blackout any areas for the events we televise. However, we are contractually obligated to do so.

Blackouts will occur in selected areas, as determined by leagues or conferences, in order to protect their local and regional television commitments and/or to protect ticket sales. ESPN and ESPN2 provide alternate programming to those areas when a team plays in a national game, home or away.

We hope this clears up any confusion.

    Sincerely,
    ESPN Viewer Response

I hope you are right Chris, I would love to see 40K+ screaming for Marshall at that game. And not everyoneone leave at halftime like a Makeup show or something.

  • Some people say that blackouts don't affect ticket sales but even ESPN has it in that paragraph about protecting ticket sales.  They got the proof somewhere. Not just made up.

  • I honestly think it will sellout no matter what. I am bringing ten people by myself. Typically I would only bring myself and my wife, but this game is a big event in Marshall football history. Win or lose I think this will be something special. You will be able to see our tailgate from a mile away.

  • I will be tailgating VERY early for that game!!   Probably around 9:00. Get there for some breakfast and some alcohol. More alcohol for snack. Then, lunch with alcohol and then more alcohol to top it off.  Will be a fun day.
