HUNTINGTON -- Darius Passmore and Courtney Edmonson highlight newfound speed among Marshall University wide receivers. Shawn Lauzon, at 6-foot-6, is a natural on jump balls, particularly in the red zone.

Stir in veterans Emmanuel Spann, Marcus Fitzgerald and E.J. Wynn and the Thundering Herd isn't lacking for passing game options. A hybrid of Passmore and Lauzon joined the mix full-time on Tuesday, when Tavaris Thompson logged his first full-pads practice.

The 6-2, 170-pound sophomore plays bigger than his measurements and caught most passes in his direction on Tuesday.

His top highlight came on a long connection down the home sideline with a defender on his hip. The cornerback continued to battle after the reception, ripping off Thompson's helmet, but the receiver continued into the end zone.

Marshall head coach Mark Snyder initially pointed to conditioning, or a lack thereof, when asked to evaluate Thompson, who has missed much of preseason camp. Once up to speed, Thompson figures to offer a varied look.

"He's different than the rest of the guys," Snyder said. "He's like Shawn Lauzon but faster. I don't know that he's the toughest guy in America yet, but he definitely has some talent."

This was his High School Times after recovering from a Football related injury. He has had a year with Coach Cochran. He was a 6'2" 160 lbs. kid coming out of High School. The more upperbody strength he gets the faster he will get. I can promise you that his forty times are right with Passmore now. Plus Passmore is 2 years older and is more mature.
