  • Hello all,
Wandering WVU Troll here.  I can honestly say that I am one of few Mountaineer fans who is looking forward to the upcoming series with you ego-inflated fair weather football fans.  I graduated from Marshall in '02, and have always enjoyed my fraternity brothers and friends who say that WVU is afraid to play Marshall.  I must say that this is pleasant news for me, and I look forward to some interesting BS that you guys will try to convince me of.  (I have heard it all before).  So lets get started.....You pick the topic and I will give it my best.

I really don't understand your post. You are a MU grad, and a WVU fan. We'll that's no big deal. There are thousands of them. I you said you were a WVU grad, and a MU fan that would be no big deal there are thousands of those as well. Perhap's we may even have a moderator, or two that would even fall into that group. There are many Mountaineer fans that are looking foward to the upcoming games. I know perhaps a thousand of them who live around here. As far as whether your fraternity brothers, and friends said, or did not say what you say they said is between you, and them. I, personally don't know why you would want to call such people your brothers, and friends, but that once again is your business. This "BS" business, you would be in a much better place to post ,if you were over at the blue and gold news, because they think it is B/S, and we don't think there is much to B/S about on this subject. If you are a WVU fan there would be nothing left to convince you of, you have made
a good decision, and I really can't think of one single thing that I would want to discuss with you.

    Be Happy Mountaineer Friends,

    Carolina,

      :-P  :-P  :-P

ps I want you to be careful out there. Just wandering around, as you put it, you might run in the wrong direction.

  • People's choice is great.  If you want to go to Marshall and root for WVU, VT, UK whoever, that's your perogative.  However, if you're such a WVU, VT, or UK fan. why not just go there? That way those fans could be even more happier.

I could even understand people saying back when we were still I-AA, that WVU is my I-A team, and Marshall is my I-AA team, but since we are now on the same equal playing field, Go to WVU and let us Marshall fans enjoy our great institution and our football successes.

  • There is why you have it all wrong.  I started at MU in the fall of '97, the same year that Marshall played WVU in Morgantown.  Some things you should know.....I very much enjoyed rooting for both schools at the time.  I grew up with an aunt who is a die hard Marshall fan (and graduate) and parents who were rooted for both. (had season tickets to both schools on alternating seasons).  It wasn't until my tenure at Marshall was near completion when I converted soley to WVU and grew a genuine hatred of Marshall.  It wasn't that I couldn't cheer for Marshall, it was just every where I went, students, professors, WSAZ, and whatever else, blasted me for rooting for WVU as well.  It became apparent to me that while there are many WVU fans who despise Marshall, there were just as many if not more MU fans who hated WVU.
Why?  Everybody said WVU was afraid, yet they played then, and they are playing again.  I always said as long as Pruett was HC, they would never play on the field again.  Now his moronic words are gone, and maybe a true rivalry can develop.  Once again I maybe able to root for MU again, but for the time being I am looking for some legit smack from you guys.  Calling me names isnt going to prove any points, instead strengthen my case that Mu has little brother syndrome.
By the way Carolina, you are wrong if you think the vast majority of eer fans are in favor of this series.  Must feel it is bad for WVU, that they are in a lose lose situation.  If WVU wins, they were supposed to, if they lose then it would be considered an upset. Then you have many others who make up exuses about it not being the best for the state economy.  Either way it doesn't matter, I'm glad they are playing, now you guys can start you record bashing and I will counter act w/my own.

    later :x

  • Son, you are on a smack board. Please don't come on here, and write a novel. Gosh, I did not read your entire post, because it was too boring for me, but I don't see anything wrong with you being a WVU fan, and I don't care what WVU fans like or don't like. I respect your fine institution, but I could care less about what they are doing, except when we play them, or If we play them. I am a Herd fan. That's why I am here at the Herd Fans board.

Get a life, Mountaineer fan, and Be Happy! You are scratching places that don't itch!

    Carolina,

ps. the mountaineer board has a spell checker.

No its the WV Public Education system for I assume you are a WVian. Now go play on the Blue and Gold Board with that nick, and you will be laughed off of it. Or run off of it.

  • I didn't notice him being called one name.  However, he can be a fan of any team he chooses, I just feel that you should root for the school you graduated from; IMO, it is the least you can do to thank them for making you the person you are today.

  • Point well taken Athens, but isnt everyone who is considered a "better" school, worried about losing to the weaker school.  I dont even know if it is that as much as it was Bobby Pruett, and his constant whinning about WVU.  I am serious as all get out, when I say this.  after '97, there was no way WVU was playing MU as long as he was there.  WVU, having the benefit of being in a "more prestigous" conference, could always use the excuse of the weaker conference, but I am convinced it was more with your guys' coach.

  • People you all don't understand why WVU didn't want to play Marshall 8 yrs ago nor do they want to play us now. It has nothing to do with being afraid or anything. As Troy Brown said "Its just a football game." And that they aren't afraid of we put our ppl out there they put their ppl out there and the team that is stronger that year wins.

What they are afraid of is losing more of the state, its all about economics of why this series wasn't signed 8 yrs ago. If Marshall has a 55K stadium by 2010 it will be sold out for that game and thats what WVU is afraid of. Marshall only has room to grow in the state and WVU only has room to lose. Thats the reason this series wasn't signed before the Gov forced it.
