HUNTINGTON -- Postgame chatter delivered a mix Saturday night.

Players spoke both in the now and of the future in evaluating Marshall University football. First, all concerned focused on finishing 2007 with a home victory, securing a celebratory Senior Day. It didn't take long, however, for both outgoing and returning players to point toward '08.

"We talked about building some momentum going into next season and my goal was just to play well and help these seniors go out with a victory," junior wide receiver Emmanuel Spann said. "The last two years we haven't won our last game, and winning this one definitely helps going into the offseason."

The Thundering Herd's wild 46-39 victory over UAB finalized the season's record at 3-9 overall and 3-5 in its third Conference USA season. Marshall split its six games at Joan C. Edwards Stadium, but was winless on the road.

Bernard Morris delivered a third straight home win, calmly driving his offense to the game-winning touchdown with 1:07 remaining. The senior quarterback threw for 309 yards, added 55 rushing and accounted for two touchdowns, including the 1-yard decisive plunge.
