  • I've heard from one of the interviewing community leaders that Kopp blew everyone away with his background, vision and eloquence.  They UNANIMOUSLY (22 of them, I think) voted for him and are very excited about the future for Marshall under his leadership.

  • In Oak Brook, Illinois, from 1986 to 1996, he organized and developed a fast pitch women's softball league. Oh yea, he also served as a  coach in the league.             (see google for resume)                  GO HERD!

To give this a perspective, MU's total University budget = UK's athletic budget, and that is the type of programs we are competing against, and doing pretty well, I might add.

Unbelieveable, but the livin' is easy!

  • Kopp has this to say when asked about increasing enrollment.  Glad he sees the big picture.

Q: How will you boost enrollment?

A: We have the advantage of great athletics. Intercollegiate athletics put the university on the map and provide an opportunity for us. That being said, we need to have a plan and clear strategy. What is the plan for enrollment? Are we looking at increasing student demographics to match with trends in the state? We have to be clear on strategy and remember the advantage in improving non-resident enrollment. It adds to the experience of students by exposing them to different backgrounds. When they can meet people who come from different backgrounds, it is enriching.

I am committed to retention. We have to have a plan on how we will retain them.

  • Let's hope Dr. Kopp keeps his Bear Bryant line of thinking........

"How many people watch you give a final exam? [About fifty is the reply.] Well, I have 50,000 watch me give mine - every Saturday!" To English Professor Tommy Mayo (at Texas A&M).
