  • Just read a story today that ESPN is pulling its name from the coach's poll.  Last year, when Texas jumped ahead of Cal, there was an appropriate uproar about it.  ESPN said that, because of the confidentiality rules, they felt they couldn't cover the story as fully as they would have liked.  Kudos to them for journalistic integrity.

  • This is awesome news. I believe that the threads of the BCS cartel are starting unravel - this is further proof.
In the middle of Huntington, West Virginia, there is a river. Next to this river, there is a steel mill. And next to the steel mill, there's a school. In the middle of this school, there's a fountain. Each year, on the exact same day, the exact same hour, the water to this fountain is turned off. And in this moment, once every year, throughout the town, throughout the school, time stands still.

  • I find it very strange that ESPN pulls their name 2 days after the BCS annouces that they will be playing the Orange bowl on Fox. Are the 2 related in some bizarre reason. I would say so.

Great observation, considering ABC and ESPN are Disney companies.  Interesting...

  • Integrity and journalism in the same sentence?!?!?!  NAH!

"I am for a government that is rigorously frugal and simple. Were we directed from Washington when to sow, when to reap, we should soon want bread."
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."
"I predict future hapiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."-Thomas Jefferson

  • pissed because FOX is about to poo poo all over their parade.  It's going to be fun watching the Big East BBAll games on Fox Network in the near future along with the Big 12, and Pac 10....How many of the top 20 BBall programs are in the Big 12, Pac 10 and new 16 team Super Big East?  Also losing those markets in football are gonna hurt as well.  All added up that's about 65% of the national market.  But hey they'll still have the Big 10 and the ACC.... That's gonna sting though.

  • I'll pass on commenting on this one. I, have a great deal of respect for Dan, and what he has did for MU, and I'll just let this one slide.

    Carolina,

  • I think ESPN is right to distance itself from the coaches poll.  To me, and I'm sure most of you guys are tired of hearing me saying it, but the coaches poll is the most biased poll of them all.  If the coaches are allowed to vote in 1/3 of what determines which program gets paid a ton of money then they should be able to standby their votes and fase the scrutiny.  If a coach says team X is better than team Z then stand by it.  If not then dont vote and lets use some other means.
