  • Keith Morehouseof WSAZ TV interviewed Coach Jirsa regarding the new BB players arriving on campus. Keith asked Coach to comment on enrolling Darryl Merthie and Coach Jirsa got a big smile on his face and said "The eagle has landed".  The television video showed tape of Merthie, Markel Humphrey, and Cris Ross in a pick up game at the Cam Henderson Center.                                         GO HERD!

If we could have just gotten one more big man, I would say we would be on our way. We'll, I do think if we gel, we can be better than last year with stiffer competitionl.

  • Agreed we need a big man.  However, last night, Coach Jirsa commented on Jean Francois Bo Grebe (sp?).  This guy has a 7'6" wingspan.  Coach Jirsa held out his own arms and said he measured out at maybe 6'7" or 6'8".  So Bo Grebe has an additional 5½" on each side.  Pretty impressive when you think about it.  Although he may not be the tallest player around, Coach made a good point when he said, "You don't rebound with your head."

On the radio, I heard him say Bo Grebe could play either the 4 or the 5, although Patton has more range on his jumper, so Mark would surely play 4 on offense when they're both in the game.
