  • Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago?

Body count: In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago; 221 killed in Iraq.

Sens. Barack Obama & weenie Durbin,

    Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.,

    Gov. Rod Blogojevich,

    House leader Mike Madigan,

Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike),

Mayor Richard M. Daley (son of Mayor Richard J. Daley)

    .....our leadership in Illinois.....all Democrats.

Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago.

Of course, they're all blaming each other.

Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!

State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country.

Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country.

Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.

And these are the tools that most feel will change America for the better?

  • What are West Virginia's numbers?

The entire state does not match up with Chicago in any way. Whether it be crime or population, there are no correlations between the two. Hell, how many years would it take to equal that many homicides in the entire state?

  • I'm certain WV is near the bottom in most categories as states go though (other than violence).  We have been under democratic rule for nearly 70 years.

I would probably say that we are the closest state to socialism in the US.

As for matching up with Chicago in murders?

If you took all the murders in WV, you'd have to go back to 2003 to match Chicago's 6-month number.

    We average 72 per year.

  • I did a research paper on crime in Huntington.

The amount of crime in Huntington compared to cities like Detroit and Houston.

It is on a smaller scale but through percentages it was very similar patterns.

Remember, we're talking about total violent deaths (murder), not crime in general, nor rates.  All metropolitan areas are higher in crime rate.

Consider that Chicago has twice the population of the entire state of WV but 4 times the murders.

If you want to look at rates,

    2006 Violent Deaths per 100,000

    Detroit:  67.3
    Chicago:  58.4
    Iraq:  56.7
    Charleston, WV  3.9
    Huntington, WV  0.0

  • Blade, you need to stop posting factual information that can be backup by legitimate sources. Some just don't want to have anything to do with it.
