  • We're down in HHI now. We've been coming here for the last 10 years but this is the first time we've been here in May. I really like it because it's still plenty hot but without the humidity. Usually we are breaking a sweat as soon as we walk outside.

We've been staying on Sea Pines the last 4 years. I decided to try a couple of eateries we haven't been to before and really enjoyed what I've found so far. All are either in Sea Pines or just outside the main gate.

Marley's Grill - is located in front of Harris Teeter just outside the main gate on Greenwood. They have a wide selection of seafood and American fare. I had the lobster tail soft tacos which were awesome.

Bogey's - Is located in the same plaza beside Harris Teeter. This is a breakfast coffee bar. Excellent food and a wide variety of coffees. I'm not big on flavored coffees but their Southern Pecan is very good.

Harbour Town bakery and cafe - another great breakfast place. Located across from Harbour Town inside Sea Pines. Many outdoor tables under a lot of shade trees. Awesome french toast and grits.

I've been to a lot of restaurants down here but on this trip we are looking to try some new ones. Let me know if any of you have suggestions and we'll give them a try and report back.

  • I love HHI, you're killing me. The Oyster Factory is very good. Get there early, though, they do not take reservations. Fitzgeralds isn't bad for more elegant dining. The Crazy Crab in Harbortown isn't bad either. I'm sick just thinking about it. Its my dream to retire there!  :D

  • I agree svherd, we'd love to move here if we could. I've been to all those places you mentioned.

Another I finally tried and liked is San Migeulles. I think a Herd grad runs it as it had a Big Green sticker in the window. We never tried it before because we usually are not in the mood for mexi when we're down here. The food and atmosphere was very good. Our waitress unfortunately was very bad. She got our orders incorrect and avoided us after that. We made the best of it by eating the food anyway and we'll give them another shot next year.

  • Two more to add...

Fat Baby's Pizza and Subs - this is some of the best subs I've ever eaten. The bread they use is awesome and they don't skimp on the meats and toppings.

Mellow Mushroom Pizza - very wide variety of toppings, sauces and cheeses. Their crust is very unique.

  • Aqua and the Sea Shack are (in my opinion) two of the best places to eat there.  There are very different ends of the price/ambiance spectrum though.

  • I still like Hudson's.  I reminds me of what HHI was like back in the 1970s.
