Just goes to show you that the idea that if we get coaches that are from WV or from Huntington that somehow they will forego there career and whats best for them and their family and just stay at Marshall.

Hopefully, the powers that be will go after the best candidates and give this notion up. 

And before anyone says it, Pruett wasnt picked because he was a West Virginian.

To hell with all of them.  To say the least I am disgusted.  Donnie Jones was a lying, self fullfilling loser of a perosn not to mention that he used MU for all it was worth.  He could have cared less about the last two games or our seniors that completed their committments to the university. I hope you lose every damn game you coach.  If MU keeps any of his assistants I will be highly pissed.

The new recruits following him are fine with me . Dieng will go to Louisville though . MU has to get a coach before any recruiting can be done .

This is the worst part about losing a coach and the subsequent search for a new one.  You basically lose a recruiting class.  Look at the last 2 times this happened.  If memory serves, Jirsa didn't have 1 player in his first class that stayed over 2 years.  The only one that survived Money Jones' first class was Tirrell Baines (thankfully). 

Also, another advantage is that MJ was already recruiting CUSA talent, so the transition is easy.  I am completely in favor of hiring a head coach like Buzz or Lutz, but that transition will not be as smooth.  I would think different conferences attract different recruits/styles.

He didn't choose UCF over Marshall.  He was never recruited to Marshall.  Jones has been recruiting him to UCF for weeks.

Davis, who had committed to the University of Charlotte earlier this past season, had already decommitted after Charlotte coach Bobby Lutz was fired two weeks ago. His plans were to eventually commit to Marshall, from where Davis was hired to replace fired UCF coach Kirk Speraw.

“They’ve recruited me very hard since about November,” Davis said of Jones and his staff. “I had picked Charlotte because it was a little closer to home, but after the coaches at Charlotte got fired, I immediately knew where I was going to go.”

And with Jones leaving Marshall, Davis was right behind him.

“I was watching from afar to see what he was going to do since I thought he might leave,” Davis said of Jones and Marshall. “He was at Florida for 11 years and I knew he was probably going to go back down there.”

What if Marshall hires Bobby Lutz as our new coach?  Does that mean Davis will decommit from UCF and come to Marshall?  Davis makes it clear that the only reason he decommitted from Charlotte is because Lutz was fired.

I think that the more I read, Donnie was recruiting players for his system, not for Marshall for a while now.  He knew that he was going to punt. 

His heart hasn't been with MU for quite awhile now.  It's been the Donnie Jones show since September or maybe before.

I believe you are entirely right mafia, and to think every Thursday night at the Pub I thanked that two timer for his hard work and he just smiled and thanked me.  Yes I feel betrayed.

Remember right when the CUSA tournament was starting and one of the reporters asked Donnie who would be a team your really wouldn't want to see again come tournament time? His answer? UCF.

Makes you wonder  now.

Right stuff...i completely agree.  I remember how at the call in shows thursday nights he seemed so genuine and sincere.  so much so that i told several people how glad i was that we had a class act such as jones as our head coach and not the guy up north.  One thing I can say is...at least the guy up north isn't a 2 faced liar.  

do i understand why he left? Yeah i sure do...but i think what pisses me off the most about it is the fashion in which he did it.  and how from the sound of it how he is doing things now.
