....when a wvu apologist finds out how much I and other Herd fans HATE the QU'eers and that I wouldn't root for them under any circumstances.  They say, "you should root for West Virginia the state...what's good for wvu is good for the state of West Virginia.

Before you say "they are just trying to find a reason to make you root for them", my question is the one's who REALLY believe that we should root for them, what is their justification.

Success for wvu just "proves our ineptitude" and makes the gaps in fans and funding bigger.  What benefit could Marshall possibly get from them winning something?  I can't think of a thing.

There isn't a scenario that you could come up with that would make me root for them at anything.  NONE.

I always say if they are playing badmitton I'm for the other team.  It always aggravates the %^&* out of me when people say they cheer for them because they represent the state.  I tell them to take their family (kids, spouse, grandma...etc)to morganhole for a football game with everyone wearing their Herd gear.....after they've had things thrown at them, been cussed out and been spit at come back and tell me that represents our state.  Those people do NOT represent us.

It will never be able to be explained to me, the idea that someone says that they are "die hard" Herd fans, yet they root for wvu too.  NOT POSSIBLE!!!  Part of loving the Herd is HATING everything about wvu and everything they stand for!  If you call yourself a Herd fan and have EVER rooted for USP@M, you need to check on your fanhood, because your allegiances don't lie in Huntington.

Great Post. I'm sick of hearing how I should support our State by supporting WVU. WVU is not WV's team or WV's Pro team or whatever the players keep saying. New Jersey's team maybe, but not WV's team. I have nothing in common, nor can or ever will relate with or to WVU! They are delusional, obnoxious, rude, and classless. If it hurts more for them to lose a final four game, I'm glad they got this far.

Well said MUHerd50.  Another thing to point out is if a diehard Herd fan is rooting for wvu I will almost guarantee you that person has never put on a green Herd jersey a walked across the blue lot in the hole.

I know more WVU fans who say they root for Marshall except when they play WVU than I do Marshall fans that will root for WVU....On the other hand, I know a lot more WVU fans whom hate us just as bad as we hate them....

I've been a WVU fan since I was a kid, and a Marshall fan as well.

There is nothing wrong with being a WVU or Marshall fan only. Little in sports is more delicious than a good rivalry, but to hate the other school seems rather childish.
