  • the video of the injury to Da'Sean Butler. I'm posting this for a few reasons. One, so the debate about it can continue. Two, to justify Duke's fans booing...they weren't booing Butler, they were booing Huggins...if you listen to the audio, Huggins was telling the ref, "they don't foul, right John?" Pointing to Da'Sean on the ground. Bunch of dumbf uck wvu fans tried pointing fingers. Huggins is not so smart because Duke WAS called for many fouls and put wvu in the bonus long before Duke got their shots at the free throw line. It's one thing to go out and comfort an injured player, and i like Butler, but Huggins made it more dramatic than it should've been. It's even more classless to blame the whole other team for the injury.
Once again...nothing bad never happens to anyone but wvu...no other team in the history of sports has ever had their star player go down...not Syracuse, not Michael Jordan, not Byron Leftwich...no...only wvu. Because it was wvu, justifies the dramatic and lagging performance of Huggins getting his player off the court.
Also, their fans would be so classy and would be completely silent if Duke's player went down and if Coach K did a mirror action to what Huggins did, right?

  • I don't know about anyone else, but I thought it was great what Huggins did....  It showed that the guy does have some class and that he cares about his players on the basketball court..... Butler was a great player and from what I've read and seen he is a great individual too....This type of injury doesn't need to happen to anyone let alone a great person like Butler..  He was predicted to go in the 2nd round and now he is listed as undrafted....

  • Nothing wrong with a coach showing some compassion for his player but what huggins did was way over the top.  No need to get to second base on the floor during the final four.

  • You can clearly see when Butler made his jump stop his knee buckled before he even went into Zoubek.  Trust me Im no WVU fan, but its a shame when a great player like Butler gets hurt.  Especially if it ruins his run at the next level.  I heard this morning he had a torn ACL and sprained MCL.  I might have them reversed, but its definitely a tear in one and a sprain in the other.

  • I'm certainly no fan of Huggins but I didnt see anything wrong with it. Butlers knee gave way when he cut to the bucket before he made contact with the Duke player. Sad to see, he seems like a good kid. I wish him well in his recovery.

  • I am glad USPAM lost, but I was sorry the young man got hurt.  He seems to be a nice young man dispite playing for USPAM.  No comment on Huggins.

  • I hate to see anyone get injured. But it didn't have much to do with the outcome...they were already down 15 points and the fat lady was doing scales.

  • I should've pointed out earlier, I, in no way, wanted to mock Da'Sean Butler. Do I agree with coach's actions? Yes. Huggins did what many coaches wanted to do. Do I agree it's a little excessive? Yes. Do I want nothing but the best for Da'Sean Butler because he is a class act? Yes.

Well now I feel bad for posting it, as some may think i'm somehow deliberately mocking wvu's injured players...I'm not.

You should read some comments on the entire game itself...it's gotten kinda nasty with all the Duke haters talking about how this game relates to racial barriers and stuff. Zoubek's been blamed for causing this injury, etc. It's just bad some people can't accept this stuff happens all the time and just because it's Duke, everyone's love to hate team, they get blamed for EVERYTHING.

It's been 9 long years since we won the tournament and I believe 6 since we made the Final Four. That's a decade by ACC standards. Give me this one. Oregon let me down this year, Michigan ALWAYS lets me down with Rich Rod at the helm. Marshall...well...you know.

  • Michigan, Duke, Oregon, Marshall....gee dude, how many teams you got.

With that said, dozens of players blow an ACL every year at the 1-A level.  Most are good kids with caring coaches but I have never seen another coach do eskimo nose rubs with the injured player before.  Thought that was just a little over the top and seemed to be playing it up for the benefit of TV and the refs which he was pissed at.  I think it was part concern and part strategy on his part.

It might be. I won't take anything away from butler though. Huggins' actions are called how you see them. Some see it as excessive...I personally, felt it was a little too excessive but the intention was perfectly fine. Maybe you're right...with the world watching...it'd be great PR for wvu...more specifically himself. He sort of sacrificed what some may say about his image, but he doesn't care, for the betterment of the program because of the idiot fans they have.

Yes my football teams are scattered. I like Michigan because family lives there and little cousin graduated with a Bio-Engineering degree from there. Oregon because of their colors and stadium, Marshall because I go here. Duke because of mom. VT because when you grow up in VA it's one or the other. My family is very scattered and has gone as far as USC (Southern Cal) to attend school.

I also think that moment might have solidifed his future and career with wvu. Coach K is the face of Duke, Dean Smith, face of unc, Tressell face of osu, Huggins face of wvu. I highly doubt he'll leave for anyone else. But you never now.

  • I can't stand Huggins, but he was just protecting his player with the officiating comment and then tried to calm him during the pain. It was a terrible injury that was hard to watch. I think Huggins handled it fine.

  • Da'Sean...Can you hear me boy.  We're out of smelling salts...Maybe you can get a whiff of the alcohol from my breath and that will help you.  If not then maybe the sweaty smell from this gym suit I've worn the whole season might help-------Thuggins--April 3, 2010
