EDITOR'S NOTE: This is the 16th in a series of previews on West Virginia and Marshall football opponents.# Date with Marshall: Oct. 30, TBA# Site: Joan C. Edwards Stadium (38,019, FieldTurf), Huntington# Coach: Mike Price (seventh year, 34-38; 30th year overall, 163-160)Checking them outThis is the fourth game of one of Conference USA's longest-distance rivalries, and one where the home team has thrown an unanswered barrage of haymakers. Last year, the Miners ended the Mark Snyder era with a 52-21 shellacking.Miners QB Trevor Vittatoe threw for a school-record 517 yards against the Herd, finishing a somewhat frustrating season with 3,308, with 17 TDs. Behind him is Donald Buckram, easily C-USA's most accomplished returning rusher with 1,594 yards and 18 TDs.Buckram carried the Miners past Houston, but fumbled twice late in a loss to Rice. The receivers were plagued by drops, which also helps explain why UTEP was 4-8 instead of 6-6 or better.
