  • Is it possible to hate that school any more than I do now? With each day bringing football nearer, I just get so passionate about my dislike for this program. Went to games up there and got treated like crap. Let's welcome these guys to Huntington the way they welcome us. And, I have a feeling about this game.

  • Physically...a few beatdowns of their fans would be fun.

    But...

Constantly...I mean constantly filling their ears up with Marshall kicking their arses in Huntington...TO BE THE START OF THEIR COMPLETE DOWNFALL!

I don't care how bad they've treated our fans. Do not treat them the same. In their eyes it will only reinforce the idea that that's the way people are supposed to be treated at away games. Or when we complaine about Morgantown, they can say "Well it's the same in Huntington."  We are better than that! I hate the term ...but kill them with kindness.

I agree.   We don't need to act like their fans.

  • I just want to look at their fans and say "good game" with a big grin on my face after beating the crap out of them on the field.

I will then continue to remind my in-laws of the beat down until the end of time.  :D

  • It'd be hard to not want to fight someone throwing beer at you or spitting or having their kids call you obsenities...while in Huntington!
You know they'll do that only in our city because they think they own the state. They won't do it at any other away venue...mainly because they can't take what they dish out. Certainly wouldn't happen at LSU...those fans would beat them senseless and drown them in the Bayou and none of their people would think twice.

I've always believed Karma can kill a team. Their fans enjoy toying with Karma and it visited them back 10 fold. Blowing the National Championship against Pitt in 2007. The coach leaving. Their basketball fans throwing stuff at Herrion, they got embarassed by Duke and their best player went down with a torn ACL.
It eventually comes back on them...they're too stupid to see it though so they'll continue to be the worst fanbase in America next to ohio state fans.
I don't want us to build any Karma...we're always regarded highly for our nice fans...lets keep it that way...trust me...people don't forget!

I think their fan arrogance level has reached an all-time high...while I'm sure many of us would enjoy a melee with their obnoxious fans, I agree, just be who we always are...eventually big name schools will want to play in WV but not because of WVU.

    GO HERD!

    Ditto.  Good post.

Although I will add that while I won't act like they do, it will be hard to kill them with kindness.  I won't throw things at them or curse at them but I will be screaming GO HERD at the top of my lungs after our game this year.  If it is a little close to their ears then so be it!    ;D

  • absolutely wouldn't want to act like their fans.

but, they have been fine the the last two years.  my guess is after we beat them, the boorish behavior will return for our visit in 2011.  however, that's a minority..........hope some of our fans grow some nuts and go support the team those years.

In 97 it wasn't too bad, they never thought we had a chance going into the game. But the first game in the series was hell.

Agreed with the posts that say we should treat them like any other opponent, be a good host and then whip their ass on the field.

  • Agree 100%.  We have a good reputation at Marshall for being good hosts.  We should always treat our visitors with class and save all our yelling to support our team.  Especially when the visiting team is on offense, then It's time to raise some hell!
