I'm not unhappy with Adelphia. Ironton and surrounding areas on the Adelphia cable lines have more stations at their disposal than other communities. But the one thing that we have that they don't have - much to our chagrin - is WCHS-TV 8 as our ABC affiliation.

The problem with having WCHS is a contract with the Big East for sporting events. Obviously, WCHS wants the Big East link because of West Virginia University. But that contract forces Ohio residents to watch games like Saturday's blockbuster between Pitt and UConn instead of Ohio State and Northwestern.

The same thing happened the week OSU played Minnesota. I think the Big East game aired was Rutgers and Cincinnati. I know I was on the edge of my seat.

  • There was a thread on the Mountaineer board today 11/13/05, with people in Morgantown griping about the same thing. They were pissed because the Ohio State game was not on. They were forced to watch somebody, I can't remember!
