  • Fox Sportsnet Pittsburgh has changed to Root Sports Pittsburgh.  They have a Marshall icon at the top of their website that links to Herdzone.com.

  • Very cool, nice find. I wonder if ESPN will sue them for posting that?

  • Wonder how many households get ESPN and how many Fox? How many times are we slated to be on Fox this fall? Have they released a TV schedule?

  • Wvu owns the rights to the game Wolf, a little gift from an by gone coach who agreed to it I've heard.

  • I don't know how many games will be on FOX, but you ESPN apologist can't point to ESPN as being MU friendly!

I thought ABC in Charleston had the rights to broadcast the Cap City Classic- the die hard wvu station. I know nothing about this stuff and I could definitely be incorrect.

The deal that is in place is that Marshall is in charge of game operations and wvu has the TV rights. They choose to never make it available to anyone other than WV stations. Same as when we play football up there and they control TV. The know that there is NO interest in the game, so there is no coverage on ESPN. Funny how that everytime the game is in Huntington that ESPN finds it's important enough to broadcast.

  • Somehow this past year the game was finally cleared to be on ESPN Full Court.  Made it nice for us out of towners having a chance to watch the hoops game.

Yes Some how...I assume you had a role in it but I don't know that.  I just know in the past it was never on Fullcourt and I complained.  Finally this year it was on.  If you were responsible...it doesn't surprise me because you have done that in the past.  So if so...I was very thankful!!!

  • I dont care what anyone says I think the wvu/Marshall basketball game deserves much better than some local production stuck on an occasional espn gameplan outlet.  It reeks of bush league but apparently the people in charge like it that way.  If Fox can get a hold of it and put it on Root Sports Pittsburg I would be all for the move.

  • Does the name change indicate that Fox is not the "owner" of the channel anymore?  Would Fox Sports programming still be the primary selection or would they stop doing "local" stuff further out than Pittsburgh?

After reading that, I don't think that Fox programming will be the dominant programming on the network.  I'm guessing that the Fox deal with CUSA just took a major kick in the nuts for Herd fans hoping to get games on that network.  But alas, if you spend the $12.95 a month to get the other "Fox" channels on Direct TV, you may be able to get 1 game...it's a great deal for CUSA!

I agree W0lf. There is no reason that game should not be on TV besides local coverage.  There are so many lesser games on TV throughout the season.  I am sure one problem for coverage would be timing of the game even if WVU allowed it to be picked up.
