EDITOR'S NOTE: This is the seventh installment of a 12-part series previewing Marshall's opponents for the upcoming football season.HUNTINGTON -- It made Rice fans get out their history books to recall what it was like, but it didn't matter. The year was 2008 and the Owls football program was doing something nobody living near its tiny Houston campus had seen since Eisenhower was in the White House.Simply put, Rice was winning. The lethal quarterback-receiver combination of Chase Clement and Jarrett Dillard was piling up numbers only seen on your Xbox 360, and there wasn't much Conference USA defenses could do about it.The Owls won 10 times that season, including a 38-14 spanking of Western Michigan in the Texas Bowl, giving the small, private school its first postseason victory since 1954.But that was soooo 2008.Flash ahead to the brink of the 2011 season and Rice is back to square one, trying to regain what it had for that brief 13-game stretch three years ago.
