    Gameday

    Date:    Saturday, Oct. 1st, 3:30 P.M.
Site:     Louisville, KY; Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium (capacity 55,000)
    Coach:  Charlie Strong (2nd Season)

    Scouting the Cardinals

The turnaround for Louisville under head coach Charlie Strong was adamant in 2010. The first year head coach seemed to bring back a winning attitude to the Cardinals – something that had lacked in results the previous couple of years under then head coach Steve Kragthorpe. In 2008 and 2009, Louisville won just nine games combined – a stark contrast from the days under Bobby Petrino.

Last year, Strong led the Cardinals to their first bowl game in three seasons, finishing with a 31-28 win over Southern Miss, pushing their record above .500 at 7-6. But despite that average record, the Cardinals were close to putting together a very good season as five of those losses were by eight points or less.
