  • Man are we LONG and athletic. I don't think i have EVER seen a guy 6'8" run the floor as fast as Hanner. Some of the guy's were a little banged up. Goff is walking around but has a knee brace on. Tinnon didn't practice and had a slight limp, but wasn't wearing a boot or anything. Boykins practiced for awhile and then iced his ankle. Scarver was the only one besided Amayo that wasn't there. The young talent looks really good. Herrion is bringing in a totally different level of player. Pittman looks to be a legot 6'9". Manning is the real deal IMO and looks to be at least 6'4". Taylor is a very good looking prospect. But with all that said, this year's team is going to come down to ONE main thing....CANTY!!!! Can he run the team and make the offense run smoothly? He doesn't need to be the scorer Pitts was because we have plenty of scoring coming in. And you can see his shot is not as good as Pitts was. But he needs to be the floor general...and i think he can. He is much stronger and bigger than Pitts. This team is loaded with talent and depth and size. There are 2 things that worry me that could keep us from being VERY GOOD and hitting the national scene this year. One is Canty taking control and playing at a high level as a freshman. Some freshman thrive in that role and some don't. Let's hope he does. And two is having this much talent, all these guys were "the man" before they got here. Will they be able to play "roles" and play as a "team" or will they play more one on one and think they are still "the man" shooting off balanced shots and playing with that "look at me" attitude? I thought Herrion's 1st year he did a tremendous job and overacheived. Last year i though he underacheieved. Yes we went further but we didn't have as good a year IMO. The first year we beat Memphis bad...beat wv bad for 35 minutes....destroyed S Miss and UCF. Last year it seems we never really played to the full potential IMO. We just didn't play as well as a TEAM. And that will be the key this year, because the talent is there. If we can play as a TEAM and Canty can be that true PG and play to his potential then we could go a LONG way. We are more talented and have way more bigs than Ohio and look how far they went last year. JMO!!!!
