By Doug SmockHaving migrated from Sleepy Hollow to Las Vegas, Matt Grobe is coming back to his roots as Marshall's first new golf coach in four decades.Grobe had barely been born when predecessor Joe Feaganes took over the Thundering Herd program in 1972. Now 41, Grobe played for Feaganes from 1993-95 after attending the Air Force Academy."I am thrilled to have the opportunity to come back to my alma mater and take over the program that Joe has built over 40 years," said Grobe. "I am looking forward to take what he has established in Huntington and seeing it continue to grow."Serving nearly all of his post-collegiate life as a club professional, Grobe went to Nevada to serve as an assistant. He became a head pro in 1998, doing so at Rhodes Ranch Golf Club in Las Vegas.He left the profession for a year, serving at Director of Sales at Las Vegas Resort. He then became the head pro at DragonRidge Country Club in Henderson, Nev., where he served until landing the Marshall job.
