DAVE WALSHThe Herald-DispatchNew Marshall University men's golf coach Matt Grobe is in the process of contacting returning players by phone. He hopes to meet with them in a couple of weeks when he moves from Nevada to West Virginia.Grobe spent the last six years as head golf pro at DragonRidge Country Club in Henderson, Nev. He replaces Joe Feaganes as Thundering Herd coach. Feaganes retired after the 2012 season, his 40th at Marshall."We've got good talent there," Grobe said. "I've got to get to know their swings. Most issues I know about. It's the small things where the coach has to step in. If a kid's having trouble in his round, you've got to be there to help. It's almost like being a caddy."Grobe and his wife Melanie have two children, daughter Mackenzie and son Cameron.Once here, Grobe will get involved with the PGA Tri-State Section, play in some tournaments and get introduced to recruiting. In the past, Grobe's goal was to attract members to the club he represented. Now he has to attract players to his alma mater.
