When the season started sophomore linebacker Deon Meadows was buried deep in Marshall’s depth chart, but hard work and injuries have propelled him to a key roll for the Herd defense.

After fellow linebacker Evan McKelvey went down early in the year with a season ending injury Meadows moved further up the depth chart, but was still seeing minimal action.

Meadows worked his way onto Marshall’s travel roster and his minutes slowly began to increase, but it was not until Saturday that his impact was fully felt. Early in Marshall’s contest against Central Florida senior linebacker Devin Arrington exited the game with a knee injury, queue Deon Meadows.

“It felt good getting in there, but not at the same point knowing Devin had gone down,” Meadows said. “But I was prepared knowing in practice that all it would take was one play to get it.”
