  • ought to be able to hit ground running.

wku sandwiched between his louisville recruiting grounds and his arkansas recruiting grounds.

Hiring him also makes the statement that WKU wants to win, despite Petrino's past baggage.

  • Agreed, WKU saying  just win baby, get us to the next level and keeping the momentum they have in the football program.  WKU administration realizing if may be now or never to move up in conferences.

  • Despite his baggage, he is a proven winner.  This should definitely energize their fanbase.  You're right THF, he won't be there for long.

  • Seems like every other team wants to win and are willing to get proven coaches to do it. Frustrating.

Yep.  Cant help but get the feeling we are just doing it on the cheap.  Cant tell me WKU has more upside than MU.  Aint no freaking way!

Wouldn't say they have more upside, they're paying him about a quarter of a mil more than we pay Doc. Had Petrino been available, with this baggage, three years ago, we would've been able to pay him the $850k, but he wasn't, he was a hot shot making $3.5m/year.

Not sure if you have been on WKU campus but it is much nicer than MU's.  Although the stadium is much smaller, 25K, it is clean and updated with many nice grassy tailgating areas surrounding.  Campus is more spacious with lots of green and no busy roads on each side.  Their BB arena was just redone a few years ago, although it is smaller also, maybe 6500. On campus baseball and soccer fields and they sell beer at baseball games.
