  • This is really all you need to know.....

During the 12-year contract for college football's new playoff format, the nation's five power conferences (SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and ACC) will earn an average of nearly $75 million more per year than the smaller leagues known as the "group of five."

From 2014-25, the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and ACC will earn an average of at least $91 million annually, sources told ESPN. By comparison, the average for the group of five -- Big East, Mountain West, Mid-American, Conference USA and Sun Belt -- during that 12-year period will be about $17.25 million annually.

  • This is interesting!!!  Because the Big East has assumed that they will win most years and take all the earnings!!!  But they must agree with the rest of our conferences on how to split it!!!!  So they likely will never get it all....just like the top 5 conferences split their shares evenly!!!

    HAAHAAA!!!

The Big East is going to have to play nice with the rest of us.....why not agree together as a group to split up into regional conferences...or regional divisions like the MWC and CUSA commissioners proposed last year....the Big East has been running rouge and the top 5 are mad at them for the way theyve acted as are the lower 4 conferences....jerks....

now they are forced to work with us....

  • The Big East just got even a little bit smaller again.  There is absolutely NO reason to give the big east more % than the rest of the conferences  Splitting it evenly is a great Win for the Sun Belt and WAC, if it still exists.

  • The BE doesn't deserve more. They have no reasoning for it. The BE b'ball schools are already pissed because the football side brings very little to the table. Anyone who thought the BE would get the same amount or more in the next round of media packages than their current set up, is not so smart.

CUSA will not get close to what they are getting now either. ugh!

  • There is probably a legal remedy...but you have to have a lot of balls to go after it.  You have to realize that you will likely ruin your legal career and that you will be arguing in front of a judge that probably went to a BCS school....and you have to get signed off on by a bunch of mid-sized college presidents, many of whom went to the schools they will be suing, to go along.

I use to wish that we could do that and play for our own national championship,  but after thinking it though.  I believe that it would really hurt us....We would probably be about as marketable as 1-AA football is now....

The fact is the vast majority of sports fans usually only watch one brand and don't care about anything second rate....There is only one NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB and et cetera....It is that way for a reason....

I think the big dogs want to separate from us, but the reality is they are better off with us around as long as they get 5 times as much money...
