  • I was in LA the week D'Antoni was hired as the Lakers coach and most fans wanted Phil Jackson and I said that MD had a tough road to go.....well, I am in LA now and he is getting crucified.  We may have our fund raiser back on staff shortly with the way things are going....perfect storm....NY Knicks are doing great since he left and now the Lakers are doing terrible with him as coach.

  • With all the criticism Mike gets for not coaching D, you'd think he would hire some asst. coaches to fill that need.  Getting called out by Magic in LA ain't gonna help you.

  • He needs to stay out if big markets is my opinion of him. If he went to Minnesota, Detroit, Charlotte and brought his O people would be ok with an 8 seed. Knick fans have been delusional and LA media is looking for ways to get him out it seems. Plus Chris Duhon is a starter? On what planet... Chicago WITHOUT Rose healthy has 2 better pgs than LA.

Va Herd Fan, MD hired Mike Woodson in NY for the D coach of sorts and they still had poor D overall. Maybe it's just O affects the D in some way idk.

  • I don't follow the NBA that much anymore, but maybe the Lakers are just "old".

I felt with the age and injury history of the Lakers they were a poor fit for Mike.

Minnesota and Charlotte would be happy with an 8 seed for a couple years, but 4-5 years of 8 seeds and he'd be out on his ass.

  • it kind of hurts when Steve Nash (starting PG) has been out and Gasol (pivotal starting forward) has been out the last 5 games. Dwight and Kobe need more their support staff to succeed otherwise every team just pays attention to them, no coach can counter those two huge injuries.

  • I realize the amount of time given to turn a team around in college is narrowing, but the NBA expectations are obviously ridiculous, at least in LA.  They started horrible before Dantoni was hired.  It is still the same team.  I don't care who you bring in to coach, it isn't going to get better over night without improving those around Kobe and Howard.  Even if Kobe scores 65 points a game, it takes more than 65 points to win, and at this point it just isn't there.

  • Mike is in a tough spot. They couldn't pay me enough to coach in LA or NYC. Never been a fan of the NBA.

  • An NBA head coach can make a difference. Not sure of the details but Bob Hopkins started 5-17 with the 77-78 Sonics ( Now OKC ), then former Sonic Lenny Wilkins took over and guided them to the NBA Finals ( Wilkins was no longer playing or a player-coach ).

  • Lenny Wilkins, man a name from the past.  That is actually when I liked the NBA and could watch the games.  I also watched him play as a player.
