HUNTINGTON — The Marshall football team put on the full pads for practice No. 3 of 15 this spring, and some good hitting and continued emphasis on teaching continued for Doc Holliday’s fourth spring as head coach.

Jr. linebacker Jermaine Holmes set the tone for some good hitting when early in one-on-one drills he knocked the “Ess-“ out of Essray Taliaferro, senior running back for the Herd.

There were a number of good hits and good plays, and for the first day of full-go after two rather chilly practices in sweats and helmets only, Holliday was happy for more than a upper 50-degree day of practice under bright sunshine right up to the end of the 2.5 hours of work.

“I thought there was some good effort … It’s a typical spring — when the offense does well, the defense doesn’t,” Holliday said.
