IRVING, Texas — Outstanding running backs will be on display Thursday night when Rice visits UAB (7:30 p.m. EST on Fox Sports 1), and Marshall controls its own destiny in the East Division as the Herd heads to Miami Beach for meeting with FIU in this full week of Conference USA football.

Rice and UAB will feature Owls senior RB Charles Ross, who leads C-USA and ranks 11th in the FBS in rushing. He is coming off a career-high 215-yard game (most by a C-USA player this season) in which he tied the conference record and set a new Rice school mark with five rushing TDs. Ross has run for more than 100 yards in six of his eight starts this season.

The Blazers have a pair of talented backs in freshman Jordan Howard (second among all FBS rookies in rushing with 826 yards) and junior Darrin Reaves, who continues his rise up the UAB TD scoring chart, now third all-time with 24 scores in less than three full seasons. Both backs are within 175 yards of reaching the 1,000-yard mark with two games to play this season.
