  • If Rice wins tomorrow, then it will depend on the BCS rankings on who will host the championship game. Rice is currently ranked #55 and Marshall is ranked #65. But, ECU was ranked #31 and with Marshall blowing them out, I say there's a good chance Marshall can leap over Rice and then host the championship game in Huntington. Thoughts?

  • I agree.  ECU is for real.  Today's showing by the Herd should garner a vote or two.

  • And when Rice beats Tulane, who beat ECU??   They get the points for ECU as well, at least in the computers.  Our total domination of them helps but not sure if it'll be enough ranking-wise.  Hope so.

  • Rooting for Tulane to take away the suspense. Don't think Tulane or Rice had a 31 point blowout over the #31 ranked team. Has to be in Huntington.

  • I win either way.  I will be in Houston if the game is there.  If in Huntington it just increases the Herd's margin of victory.  If we beat Rice last year in Houston, we should win by a bigger margin with this team.  No possible Western division opponent should be able to beat us for the championship.

  • If we play Rice here, we are champs, no doubt. Play it at Rice it's a tight fit. Sad if we play there, they may have 10K fans. Won't look good on TV.

  • Rice's ranking of 55 includes their win over ECU. Our ranking of 65 does not include our win over ECU. Can we make up that 10 point difference in our win over ECU? I'm hoping!

  • You can bet neither the conference nor ESPN is excited at the prospect of Rice hosting the Championship.

  • Rice didn't beat ECU.

Correct, they'd only get credit for ECU through their opponent's opponent a la Tulane.  That doesn't get factored in until if and when they beat Tulane.

  • haven't ever paid any attn. to the BCS polls. Is 15 pts ordinarily tough to move in one week?

  • All we have to do is receive a vote or 2 in the coaches or harris poll. Considering ECU was getting a lot of votes (enough to be ranked as high as what 29th?) I think it is safe to say that we will at least get 1-2 votes.
