JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Looking for its first road win of the season in its second try, the Marshall men's basketball team's comeback bid fell short with an 88-78 loss to ETSU Saturday at Freedom Hall Civic Center.

The Bucs improved to 3-5 overall, while Marshall fell to 4-3.

ETSU's Kinard Gadsden-Gilliard had a masterful all-around performance, totaling 19 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Hunter Harris had 17 points (on 8-9 shooting) with 13 rebounds. RaShawn Rembert and Lester Wilson (before fouling out) added 13 points each.

Marshall was led by Kareem Canty's (Harlem, N.Y.) 19 points, followed by 17 from Chris Thomas (Denver), Elijah Pittman's (Lexington, Ky.) 16, Shawn Smith's (Sacramento) 11 and Ryan Taylor's (Indianapolis) 10. Taylor also racked up 14 rebounds for the double-double as the Herd outrebounded ETSU 40-37. Canty added 6 assists as well.
