Ironically (and perhaps fittingly), the men's basketball team is 4-3--two losses in OT, one to a "rival"--a familiar scenario, to be sure...a month ago just about everybody on here (including me) was willing to throw Doc and just about everybody associated with the team under the proverbial bus...yesterday, we had a few folks suggesting that we tie up DH to a contract extension lest he go elsewhere...now, that's not to say that there aren't some issues involved with the cagers (how many of you are old enough to remember THAT one???...you probably heard it when watching games from your davenport)...many are subjects that go back to his arrival and how he failed to carry us to the next level after DJ's departure and his less-than-stellar record (17-20...17-20...17-20), especially regarding last year's debacle...then with the departure of Kane and a breath of fresh air emanating from the new guys and, well, it hasn't happened (yet)...same old same old, as it were...the way I see it (and I haven't seen any of the games, so this is conjecture), you have Pittman as the guy who believes that he has the right to be "the man" based on last season...then you've got all of the new guys led by Canty, who sees himself as leader as the PG and the guy who ought to be the face of the program...there's only one ball and a bunch of guys trying to figure out where they fit, so it figures that chemistry would be an issue...that and trying to figure out the defensive parameters of the new NCAA and fighting the old bugaboo of FT's (kind of like figuring out how to win in Tulsa) and there's no joy in Mudville...all I'm saying is that I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet, on either the team or the coach...I mean, wins over Vandy, PSU, and WVU would create a whole different attitude, wouldn't it???...
