Pretty good one there actually ton of fans and topics. They are somewhat scared of us but confident if they play at home.

One post talked about how it would be best for the conference if they hosted the game lol. I almost created an account to reply to that one with "why? Would 5,000 fans on TV look better than 35,000 at Marshall?"

They are behind the scenes. They are a private school who find themselves in a position where they would like to express their true feelings, but it just simply would not be prudent.

I don't have a problem with anything that fans say on their forums. Every fan board seems to have some element of the same fuzzy logic and rationalizations found on every other fan forum. That being said, I found one comment at least humorous:

What does hosting mean in dollars for the schools? What happens to the gate, concessions, etc..? Is that all shared with conference? Are travel costs covered by the conference?

Rice - a school with a $5.2 Billion endowment - has fans wondering if they get to keep the concessions money if they host the championship game. Now that there is some funny stuff.

Every fanbase has a butthead or two... If they've got the token 2 buttheads, that leaves them with 11 classy fans. It's simple math.

I did a scan the board and here are my takeaways.

They should be hosting the game because Doc voted for himself.  It is possibly cheating if we lobbied for votes.  Doing whatever it takes to win "it is the definition of cheating"

A good ole boy system is what this is and they have about 5 other formulas that should have been used that would have fairly made them the host.

The ECU win wasnt very impressive but they "dominated Tulane" by four points?

Well, I don't think many on here...really understand what we are facing in Rice....They did dominate Tulane...Tulane had 100 yards total offense and 6 first downs...

Rice has won four games on the road...

They scored 31 on the 7# team in the nation on the road...

You know they are well coached and smart kids

They play the offense that we lost to and struggle to defend...

They are 5 points from 10 wins...

I don't like a lot of things about this game....But, I think we win by 7-10...If we don't turn the ball over....

We also beat them down there with our (at the time) verrrrry bad defense.  Things are better now on defense (Tulane held them down fairly well and were in the game until the very end).  I have complete confidence in Heater to come up with a good game plan. 

I just hope we don't slow down our offensive play too much.

We played them the last two years. Both where tough close games....I think they know!
