  • How do we not host? By the rules we come out on top.

Why does CUSA get to evaluate the BCS rankings using their own formula? The rules don't state that CUSA officials will do their own ranking for the 3rd tiebreaker. That is what just happened. HOW IS IT A BCS RANKING IF THE BCS DOESN'T ACTUALLY PERFORM THE RANKING???

  • Like I said, BCS is good enough to determine who plays for the National Title but not the location of the CUSA Championship?!?!  Really??

  • The BCS only ranks to top 25. They have to use a different formula to determine rankings past top 25. And who the hell knows what that is.

Thank You !!!  Normally, I don't post messages on the board (as many of you express what I am thinking better than I can) nor do I get bent out of shape over this sort of thing.....but this is just WRONG !!!!  By CUSA's own printed standard, we should be hosting this championship game.  That printed standard did not include anything about the need to be ahead in a recalculated BCS ranking.

Frankly, I think (and hope) that Marshall fans should burn up the lines on the telephone switchboard at CUSA headquarters tomorrow as we call in protest of this.  This is outrageous !!!

  • I get it....Now we get Norhtern Illinois vs Central Florida in national championship.  Man....I'm glad this has cleared everything up.  I can sleep now knowing college football is straight up.  Obviously I'm being a smartass.  But why did rule change at 930 pm.  I don't necessarily care where we whip Rice's ass just thought it ...... by the rules was in Huntington.

  • Key word in the Tiebreaker statement by CUSA is that the tiebreaker formula is recommended.  They don't necessarily have to follow it.  Can't help but think there is some money involved and/or CUSA has chosen to appease Rice in order to keep them in the Conference.

Yeah...no conference could survive a Rice defection.    :-)

  • We got ripped off!  Make the rules on the fly if things don't work out the way you want them the first time.  Isn't the conference office in Texas?  Guess the ass holes didn't want to travel.

  • My guess is that they had already done the planning to have the game in Texas...and maybe they thought that the sudden appearance of votes in the coaches' poll was designed to take the decision out of their hands, so they needed to create a scenario that backed their choice...it is what it is...and it ought to serve as a fabulous motivation to bring the trophy back to Huntington...GO HERD!!!...

  • The thing is, it doesn't matter if rice isn't getting votes. The point is that we are ranked in the bcs with a bcs average because we did get votes. #33. That's higher than rice in the bcs rankings. Period. This is a sham and that is it.
