  • The Ville had 3 players most of any team taken in the first round. Charlie Strong did a hell of a job recruiting there. I wish we played them this year. It will be interesting to see what Strong does at Texas with it's filthy rich resources.

  • The teams Texas plays are all filthy rich!  I realize Texas may be even more filthy rich than them, but at some point in college athletics there is a dollar amount and if you have more than that, you can afford about anything and although your opponent has 10 times more than you, you are still on pretty well equal footing!  My point is that the competition Louisville had week in and week out through the season couldn't be more different than the difficulty of the opponents Texas faces all season long; plus the expectations the fanbase has are similar to UK fans on basketball adding that pressure to succeed immediately in a sport that Doc has shown us takes 3 to 4 years to actually get turned around!  I like Charlie; but if winning at Texas was easy Mack Brown never would have stopped!  It has been proven that he made a lot of horrible decisions as of late, (Johnny Football and RG3) but I think Charlie still has a tough road ahead!

  • Mack brown was not a great coach, as it turned out. A great coach will be successful whereveer they go. Tjey don't dwell on or get caught up in bitching and whining about obstacles, they overcome them. If strong is the coach everyone thinks, which I dont think he is an exceptional coach,  then he will do fine. Otherwise, 3 years and done.

  • I don't think Strong is a good coach either, but he's a hell of a recruiter. I was hoping we could have played the Ville this year.
Damn, I hate to wait until 2015!

Obviously you didn't see his defenses at Florida.  Make no mistake he's a very good coach.  I also saw how some posters dismissed Sumlin as well and all he's done is win.  TA&M was a wannabe until he got there.

I haven't been that impressed with him as a head coach. Time will tell at Texas as to how good Strong is.

  • Sumlin has ridden a tidal wave of world class qbs too though,  Keenum, perhaps the single greatest college qb ever, and then johnny football. The year keenum was out he didnt fair so well. We will see how he does next year

  • I see nothing wrong with Strong. I think he's done what a head coach is supposed to do. Run the team effectively. The year that Marshall beat them, he fired his Defensive Coordinator mid season and salvaged a bowl out of a season that started pretty bad. He then went on to have 2 more solid seasons. He made the necessary adjustments to fix his program.
