NORMAN, Okla. – Marshall men’s golfer Brian Anania (Hurricane, W.Va.) was named a Division I PING All-Region selection, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America, Thursday. Anania is one of 157 players across six regions – Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West – to earn all-region honors for 2014.

Anania, who graduated May 10, was selected as one of 25 players to the Midwest Region, and is the second player in Thundering Herd history to earn the honors after Nathan Kerns in 2013.

This season, the senior earned Marshall's second-lowest single-season stroke average of 72.48 after playing all 29 rounds for the Herd.  He won first career tournament with a 6-under-par 210 at the Bearcat Invitational (Oct. 8) and received his first-ever Conference USA Golfer of the Week honors following the victory. He had five top-10 finishes, tied for most on the team, and shot career-best round of 67 on the second day of the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate (Oct. 21). Most recently, he finished in a tie for sixth place at the Conference USA Championship (April 29), the best finish on the team, and was named a Conference USA Men's Golf All-Academic Selection for the second consecutive season.
