  • I just don't know how you could look at our schedule and say we deserve to be in a 4 or even 8 team playoff.

The schedule does not have a bearing on how good thr team can be. If you go undefeated, which is a herculean task, then who is to say you don't deserve a shot?

  • I hope we mention how Louisville backed out every time someone mentions our schedule.  Also would be good to mention who won last time we played at their place.

    This.

Going undefeated is difficult. Against this schedule, time will tell if Marshall gets that shot.

I agree it doesn't define the team but we play who we play and that's how you are and should be rewarded. Going undefeated against this schedule should not be considered a Herculean task. I'm sorry, as much as I love the herd, I just can't say we deserve a shot with the schedule as it stands now.

  • Noticing how that every season preview for the Herd opens up with almost the same introduction. That says something about how we are and are going to be perceived.

    Thanks, Louisville.

  • I agree and I drink the green stuff every single day. We will have an advantage in talent and experience every single game. Undefeated is not a long shot at all. Slip ups happen and we might have one like Ohio last yr. But as that season unfolded it was plain the better team didn't win. Execute and we are 13 and 0 and looking for a chance to prove something....HOD or Peach. Get in that game and play like we can and real FB people will notice that two yrs in a row we have beaten a power conf school. Good recruiting will follow

I'm not certain that UofL is to blame. OK, that's one marquee game, but they lost a lot and are joining the ACC. How high will they be ranked at the end of the year, and would UofL's ranking give Marshall credibility?

The point is, UofL is one game... Let's look at the body of work at the end of the season and the W's and L's of the opponents.

My prognostication is even with UofL, had they still been on the schedule,  the OOC and CUSA schedule is not going to serve Marshall well.

  • In all honesty, I would rather have the Peach Bowl than the playoff. We have a better shot in a one game scenario.

Flip side is, you can't win a game you don't play, and if we could win at least one in the playoff you at least have a shot at a NC.

Maybe I'm thinking Peach because Atlanta is an easy drive.

  • Go undefeated and unscored upon.  Thirteen shutouts before the national championship playoff, bowl or whatever it is.  As long as we're counting our chickens before they hatch...
