  • I think Marshall should play them.... for a baseball stadium on or very near campus and a party deck in the north endzone of the Joan.

  • I'd make an offer for a home and home with a HUGE buyout for our home game.

If they're truly desperate, how about home and home with the first game in Huntington?

  • Would love to see them play Ohio State. It will never happen because both of them "pad" their schedule.

  • Personally, I'd love to play Bama to see how we measure up.
It would be nice if we played them this year. I hope Hamrick can work out something for next year.

  • If we could keep the game close I'd be ecstatic. That is if they'd take a game with us.

Hell they get away with playing easy teams every week anyway.

if i had my choice id rather play them at home in 2016 with a qb that has a year under his belt and has played against them  think it would give us a better shot at winning.  JMO

I agree with this, provided no one gets killed playing those guys the first year.  I think the closest we've ever come to playing a pro team before was maybe Florida in 2001.  Make no mistake, playing Alabama would be like playing a decent NFL team.  Even when we played Ohio St in 2004 they had lost a step from their NC team a couple years earlier.

I think we could do very well against them.  I think we should try.  There wouldn't be a better measurement of where we actually stand in the football world.

  • I don't state much in terms of "never", but as close as I would come is that Bama will never come to the Joan.

I don't think the ooc schedule matters when you are in the SEC west.

  • I know that most of you are only half serious or just wishful thinking that Alabama would visit the Joan. But it got me to thinking, when do they ever leave Alabama for a non-SEC game and the answer is almost never. They have played @Penn St. in recent history but the last time they visited a non traditional power school was when they went to Duke in 2008 I believe. When do you think was the last time they visited a non-power conference school on the road? If you guessed Tulane in 1992 then you would be right. And I'm willing to bet that out of the 60 or 80 thousand people there that only about 20k were there for Tulane and that is probably being generous. That is the only reason they would schedule such a game.

Fact is we are lucky to have Purdue, Navy, and Louisville visiting the Joan in the future. It is going to be very hard to get mid to lower level power 5 conference teams to schedule us now that we are back on an upswing. Sure, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Miami, and others like them won't mind playing us because they are good enough to win, but won't ever come to Huntington. But the Northwesterns, Miss. St., Indianas, Wake Forests, etc will not play us home-home while they think we are going to be good.

Not sure what your point is as far as scheduling Bama in 15.

  • No need for games versus teams like Alabama, unless it pays really big money over having another home game and 1 more loss on the season.

The current schedule has gotten our wins up, fans enthused, and reputation on the rise again.  Can't help if L'ville cancels, or WVU dodges us.  With more wins come better recruits to where we can step up the schedule.

Not a big fan of the games at their place against the perennial national championship contenders.

  • there is no future whatsoever in playing bama. I, too, am dead against the idea.

It's a guaranteed loss, no matter how good we are. We can make a nice profit with a home game and I would rather have a W than an L.

Overall, we are better off in all respects with a win at home over a lesser opponent.
This is what the "big boys" already know. That's why they pay the big bucks to have small schools come get whipped soundly at their place.

wonder if that's how the teams of the late 90's felt?
