Banowsky knows that the team receiving the most buzz in Conference USA is No. 23 Marshall. The Thundering Herd, who are 7-0, are one of four undefeated teams remaining in the country. If Marshall finishes the regular season undefeated and earns a spot in an elite access bowl, Banowsky said it would be a significant boost for Conference USA.

"It would elevate the program to a national status," he said. "It's a big deal and we would love to see that outcome."

If Marshall does loss a game or two, Banowsky said the Thundering Herd would be a logical fit for the Boca Raton Bowl because of their large fan base and their history of recruiting in South Florida.

"If they stumble, I know they love South Florida," Banowski said. "We would definitely look at possibly bringing them."

  • I have no desire to go to the garbage bowl in the Bahamas to see yet another MAC team get destroyed. What motivation is that for the players? Good lord this conference sucks.

Steinbrecher felt schools such as Northern Illinois, Ohio and Ball State would bring a large number of fans to Boca Raton.

    Huh?
