  • Agreed. Unless Cato actually moves the offense now.

  • I was upset as anyone ... and I wanted a few series here and there for BFro last season ... but come on ... 13,000 career yards passing ... 45 consecutive games with a passing TD ... our chips were all in on Cato.

"Some of you guys kill me." as they might say.

  • Cato has more than earned his spot in the backfield for one last career game.

  • I'm just not soled on Gunnar. Hasn't made me say wow or anything. I really think our next QB isn't even dressing or maybe not on campus yet

Half right, I think....I suspect Birdsong is going to be a stud...He'd be smart to play in the system and keep his completion rate at about 60%....He'll win 10 games...

Agree. I think Doc already knew something about (a) new recruit(s) when BFro effectively got no real-world snaps last year after all the promises on the Herd Caravans in the preceding Spring that he would.

Doc gambled pretty big time that Cato would not get a season-ending injury this year. Running the ball a lot  more at 175 lbs especially -it was a pretty big risk. But so far we/Doc have gotten away with it, knock on wood.

As for the OP, I suddenly remember the BP quote, "You stay with the horse that brought you.".

I hate it for BFro but I'll say this, his manner of leaving was a class act, thanking the fans and not making a big deal like you see so many times with players in that situation.

  • Legg is the one to blame. First time all year I have seen Cato look to the sidelines every play and he was wearing a play list on his hand warmer - first time I have seen him use that this year as well.

As far as I am concerned Legg can move along. Our O is about as vanilla as you can get.

The last drive had the best play calls all day, what the hell was he waiting for?

They always do that....Remember the Bowl game win against FIU?  We have one or two plays that we hold for the final drive....

Agree 100% ... cf. my "leg disease" posts, etc. I've "Damned him with faint praise" ... saying he is "above average". That is all I will grant.

OK time to admit my anti-poutie bias has something to do with it ... but not that much. I will spare everyone from descending into my conspiracy theories [ e.g. @VT ] for what must would seem as the millionth time.

  • Well NOW it MIGHT be time for Gunner...bowl practice opens the QB competition for next season. Can Gunner beat out Birdsong? Or is Cato's successor not on campus yet?

  • I blame Legg. The offensive calls aren't good and he's lucky he has players to help him out. They'll run shuler on a long route, where they should have a taller receiver. As far as I know Doc doesn't call the plays and leaves it to the oc
