It wasn't just the worst home defeat in the Monarchs' history. Appalachian State's 49-0 pounding of ODU on Saturday night was the first shutout Brian Scott has suffered as an offensive coordinator.

Scott was lavished with praise, by the media and fans alike, as an offensive innovator when the Monarchs broke NCAA scoring records a few years ago with their wide-open, spread passing attack.

Scott generally cast aside praise, saying quarterback Taylor Heinicke, who threw for nearly 15,000 yards in his career, and wide receiver Antonio Vaughan deserved a boatload of credit.

"I'm not sure people appreciated just how good they were," he said.

  • "ODU has three seniors on offense - only Nevada, Pittsburgh and Wake Forest have fewer among the nation's 128 Football Bowl Subdivision schools. "

Ironically, Marshall had just 3 SR on offense on field at end of Kent game: Johannsen, Reeves, and Allen. Of the other eight, seven were FR or SO

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS
