ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Remember when it was said that Marshall running back Devon Johnson’s chances of playing in the 2015 St. Petersburg Bowl were about as good as the chance of snow for Christmas in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area?

Well, it looks like Santa Claus mysteriously sprinkled a bit of snow over Christmas night in Florida.

Johnson is suited up for the Herd on Saturday and will play in Marshall’s contest against UConn in the St. Petersburg Bowl.

Since being cleared to resume activity, however, Johnson has reportedly looked solid in drills — enough so that the Herd coaching staff deemed him ready to resume practice, which he did over the weekend and with the team while in St. Petersburg.

According to one source within the program, Johnson will play, but is going to be on a “pitch count”, which means he isn’t expected to take the bulk of the snaps.

I can't wait to see DJ one more time for The Herd, no matter how low the pitch count. Although I'm being facetious, it seems that MU football coaches do this to just aggravate Chuck.  Remember the green helmets with Snyder?
