I would love to see the UD end zone and corner seats as well as the habitually returned visitor section seats from our CUSA "rivals" deep discounted to $10 or $15 per seat, but you would have to police the moving around which can currently be done at will.
bbcard1, I think some schools actually have short versions of chain link fencing separating some cheaper seats from more expensive versions. I think we have something like that in the West stands separating the chairbacks from other seating. Would be nice maybe if for one game MU could offer a special promo for the end zone GA tickets. Maybe a family type promo of a # of tickets plus a concession voucher to try and attract new fans, young families, hoping to expose new fans to Herd football, hoping they are impressed and maybe will come back for more. I would think we could try this for our FCS opponent next season, but I realize that if this game is a night game, early Sept., and good weather we should have a good crowd (30,000+).
Also, think that FlyHawk and Banker have some good thoughts on redoing, upgrading the end zone area. To completely revamp this area, MU may need to "think big", meaning buying some property south of the endzone area. This would mean some "big buck", and working with the city to move/relocate or close the road running behind the Cline Complex and Stadium. I know MU already owns the abandoned church along 5th Ave. and Master Plan has demolition of structure in the plan. MU athletic dept. needs to work with MU Foundation, find funding for land purchases (loan from Foundation with payback schedule from future athletic dept revenues). MU needs to buy and demolish the empty Pizza Hut building behind Cline on 5th Ave. and try to negotiate with other property owners, couple of houses or so along 5th, a medium size business building along 5th just west of Huntington Phys. Therapy Complex. Other parcels along 5th may be tougher to obtain, Wendy's and MacDonalds restaurants. These properties to me would be ESSENTIAL to really redo the endzone area in a first class manner: providing a wider concourse with concessions, rest rooms, provide a upper walk way, plaza, etc., area, and perhaps luxury boxes. Won't be cheap, but MU needs to look at this as a long/medium range upgrade to improve revenue stream and enhance overall fan experience. First step to me is to start seeking and obtaining the necessary property, as described above, before someone else comes in and redevelops and upgrades said property (like Pizza Hut lot) and jack prices even higher. Even in short run, MU could demolish the church and pizza hut locations and use area for additional game day parking ($$$).
